Week 22 Update

This week marks lots of change, progress and busyness for the Horton family.  We made another trip to Lawton this weekend to enjoy time with family and see our cousin Tomas get married.  He and Jessica had a beautiful ceremony and it was lots of fun!  We loved getting to see everyone as well as spend time with Clara Mae and Houston who were up from Texas.  We figured out it had been almost 5 years since we had seen them - much too long! :)  I got to transport the sushi for the reception over to Altus and Tyler helped me by riding as my co-pilot.  We had a great time singing in the car and playing over at Aunt Deedee and Cousin Lincoln's house.  Lincoln was very nice to share his toys with Tyler while I finished getting ready for the wedding.  George spent the afternoon at the farm and got to take Pepper out for a run.  Here are some good pics from the wedding reception:

We came back to town early Sunday morning because a contractor is visiting the house Wednesday and George had to get a couple of walls torn down in the living room in order for them to give us an estimate.  He and a very nice group of volunteers helped tear out the sheetrock and old wood paneling out of the living room.  It felt very nice to see it go!  We can now see the larger space taking shape and look forward to getting the walls textured and painted.  I am very proud of George for all the work he's done on the house.  It has saved us lots of money and everything is looking great!

Baby Horton is growing like a weed this week!  My belly is definitely showing it, too.  When we went down to see family, everyone commented on the difference the past week has made.  According to BabyCenter, she weighs around 1 lb. and is the almost a foot long, the size of a spaghetti squash.  We have our next prenatal check-up tomorrow and can't wait to hear her heartbeat.  This week I've also noticed a little swelling in my hands and feet.  I have pretty much given up on wearing my wedding rings because each time I put them on I break out in blisters within a few hours.  I'm not sure what's causing the reaction, but I'm ready for it to go away!  Baby H has also been kicking up a storm.  She is most active in the mornings and evenings.  Although, she's been known to poke me around lunchtime as well. :)  Here is a picture from the Sanchez wedding this weekend:

We hope each of you have a wonderful week!  I'll be posting an update after our doctor's appointment to let you know how she's progressing.

Week 21 Update

This week has been a great week for Baby H. I'm starting to think that she will be a kick-boxing instructor with all of the jabs I've been getting! :) George got to feel her move several times which was really special. This week also marks the end of the 5-week night class I was taking which means we will be in full-planning mode from here forward! Hopefully we can start picking things out for the nursery now and getting our ideas together. Everyone has been asking us about names for our little girl. We have several in mind but are still debating. Ultimately, we are going to narrow the selection down to two 'top names' and decide the day she is born. George and I like the idea of keeping the names a secret until we meet her.

This week is also the week that I have felt/looked the most pregnant. I can really tell that she is growing and it is pretty obvious from the outside that she is too :) We have our next prenatal appointment a week from today so we will have more information to share next week.

We also have a big house update too! We have ordered tile and the bathroom vanity which should be installed very soon. This means we are extremely close to having a large portion of the renovations completed. We are so excited to be done!

And last, but not least, a growing Baby Horton photo for you!

Week 20 Update

This week has gone by VERY fast. We had another snow storm which gave me an additional day off of work and George got two! We've been making good progress on the house because of the snow days. George has painted the bathroom, bedroom and closet. He started on the closet floor yesterday and we should be getting tile in for the bathroom soon. I can't wait for it to all come together! Now that everything is painted, I can start getting ideas together for decorating.

Baby H has been doing really well this week. She has started kicking up a storm and I feel her moving pretty regularly every night and each morning. Yesterday evening we read her first books to her, "Goodnight Moon" and a nighttime little critter book (thanks to Carrie & Uncle Bub!) It was a sweet moment to wind down the busy day and take some time to think about our little one. This week, according to BabyCenter, she is over 10 inches long from head to toe (about the size of a banana) We can't believe how fast she's growing!

Week 20

We hope each of you has a great week - enjoy the beautiful weather!

Week 19: Baby Horton is a.....

GIRL!!!

We had a very exciting gender reveal party this afternoon with our family and found out that there will be lots of pink in our future! :)  Special thanks to our parents and siblings for driving up and sharing this special day with us.  We enjoyed finding out this surprise with our loved ones!  The video below shows the "big reveal".  Teda Hulsey, Caryl Talley and Carrie Hulsey-Greene did an excellent job keeping the Baby H secret and planning a wonderful party for us.  Thank you guys!  They had wrapped a beautiful silver elephant piggy bank with pink ears in a set of hat boxes to tell us what the baby was - it was very creative!  Afterwards, we enjoyed yummy slushy punch, fruit, crepes a la Dan Horton and some of Teda's famous chocolate krinkle cookies.  If we could choose one word to describe today's events, it would most definitely be BLESSED.  Not only will we soon be blessed with a little girl, we are also blessed with amazing family and friends that we love dearly.  George and I are happy to know the news so we can get the planning into high gear!  In George's words from this afternoon, "We've got to get this house finished in a hurry!" :)

Midterm Ultrasound!

Yesterday George and I went in to see Dr. Henry for our midterm ultrasound. This was our first time seeing Baby Horton up close since Week 7. We were very excited and relieved to see that everything looked great and the baby is healthy! Our ultrasound technician did a wonderful job of spending time with us and letting us see all the little details of Baby H. When the time came to determine the gender, George and I looked away so she could take some images to put in an envelope for us. It was SO hard to not look! We both really wanted to know - but will wait until the rest of the family is here on Sunday! :) The baby's heartrate is still around 145 and very strong. We'll be posting another belly photo for everyone later this week.

We are praying for clear roads on Thursday so we can travel to be with family for my grandfather's funeral. This week has been very sad as well as joyful and we are thankful for the blessings of family and the salvation and peace our Father provides us.
