35 Week Update

This week we have been organizing like crazy!  Now that the house is almost finished, my urge to "nest" has been kicked into overdrive.  George has been extremely helpful and even put up with me changing my mind on what room the nursery would be in.  This meant that we had to disassemble the guest room and baby furniture and switch the rooms back to where they originally were.  I am so thankful to have a patient husband! :)  When everything was said and done, we were glad that the rooms were switched.  We kept the larger room upstairs for a guest bedroom and made the smaller room into a more intimate nursery.  I love it!  My co-worker, Carrie, came over and gave George a BIG baby present this Sunday by painting the nursery for us.  She did a stellar job and the color pulled everything together.  We still have several things to get done in the nursery like: purchase an area rug, hang curtains, hang the doors, finish hanging wall decor and a few other things.  Overall, it's getting closer and we thought you might like a sneak-peek!

My super handy husband!
I am really excited to see things coming together.  It makes us think about the weeks to come and that before long, Baby H will be here!

This week, there has not been a lot of change in how I'm feeling.  I still have quite a bit of swelling but have learned to keep my feet up as much as possible.  Last night, George and I had fun watching Baby Horton move around in my belly.  We think either her fist or foot was being pushed out and moved across and back and forth.  It was pretty funny to watch!  It is surreal to think that I have a little girl inside of me who is over 5 lbs. now!  She is definitely trying to move around and make more room for herself, that's for sure.  This coming Monday will be my 36 Week check-up and they will start to check her progression and positioning.

Yesterday George's parents came up for a quick visit on Memorial Day.  They delivered Baby Horton's glider and we can't wait to use it!  We're keeping it downstairs in our bedroom so we can use it there until she gets bigger.  I love it!  Also, George's mom brought up more photos from the Lawton baby shower and there were some really good ones.  We are so blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful friends and family who love us and spoil Baby H already.  We can't thank each person enough for their love and support during this exciting time in our lives!  Below are some of the photos from the shower.  The rest can be viewed by clicking here.  Special thanks to Sara Mazzo for her amazing photography skills!  Their photography business can be found at www.MikeMazzo.com if you need any photos!  They come highly recommended from us Hortons :)

34 Weeks and Going Strong!

This weekend we traveled to Lawton for a wonderful baby shower hosted by Deedee Stafford, Sara Mazzo, Shannon Richey, Sharon Stephen and Tracy Frees.  We had such a great time and Baby Horton was showered with love and presents by some of our closest friends and family.  It became very clear at the shower that she will be well-dressed for quite sometime.  George and I have held off on purchasing clothes because we wanted to wait and see what we needed, and I sure am glad that we waited!  The outfits, shoes, hairbows and adorable socks were overflowing!  I cannot wait to dress her and show her off in her new gear.  We are truly blessed and thankful to everyone that came.  :)

The hostesses purchased Baby Horton's bedding and had the most creative decorations to match it!  And the best part - I got to take the decorations home for her room!  Sara made a custom tree branch (in photo below) that has decorative leaves, buds and even a little birds nest.  George's cousins (Shannon, Michael, Amanda and Alecia) made hand painted wooden birds to match the "Love Birds" print from her bedding.  They are adorable and I can't wait to put them in her room (pictures to come)!  Here is a preview of the bedding:

We will be painting Baby H's room this weekend and getting everything set up. I can't wait to see it all come together.  Here is a mood board to show you the color scheme and fabrics:

Sara Mazzo was kind enough to be our event photographer and she did a fantastic job!  She is also responsible for this week's belly photo.  Thanks Sara for capturing a great memory!

George and I definitely feel blessed to be surrounded by such caring family and friends.  We couldn't ask for better supporters during this transitional time in our lives!  Baby Horton is doing well.  We have a check-up appointment this afternoon.  There hasn't been much change in how I'm feeling other than a lot more swelling on my feet and ankles.  I feel like I'm walking around on elephant feet sometimes!  She has been kicking and moving around A TON!  George and I's new favorite thing to do is to watch my belly transform into all different shapes and sizes as she moves around.  We can really tell she's getting bigger and can't wait to meet this little "wiggle worm"! :)

Have a wonderful week!
Love,

OSU Baby Shower

Yesterday we had our baby shower at OSU and it was such a blast.  George and I really enjoyed getting to celebrate "Little Miss Horton" with my colleagues and friends.  Carrie, Erin, Harlan and Jessa planned a beautiful shower.  They made a huge assortment of pies for everyone to munch on and they were delicious!  We had strawberry pie, oreo pie, chocolate pie, peach pie, apple torte, kentucky bourbon pie, cheesecake, and many more!  We are so grateful and blessed to have these people in our lives.  Baby Horton is going to be surrounded by such love when she gets here!  Below is a photo from the shower.  We will be posting a belly shot for you this weekend!  Have a great Thursday :)

Week 33 Update

Tonight George and I celebrated our first school-free weekend (for me) with a trip to OKC. We had a great time and enjoyed some yummy fondue at the Melting Pot. Then, we went to Target to do a little shopping. It was nice to get out of the house and do whatever we wanted without worrying about homework or house projects! We've decided to enjoy the next few weeks together and cherish the time we have before Baby H gets here. This week we got the stairs carpeted and they look awesome. George also got our bedroom door up today, we are almost done! The countertop people will come on Monday to measure and before we know it the bathroom will be finished. :) Below is a pic of the stairs for your enjoyment...

Overall, I have been feeling good this week. My feet and ankles are starting to swell quite a bit so I've been drinking lots of water and propping them up whenever I can. George has been really sweet to rub my feet when they're hurting :) Baby H now weighs over 4lbs and is the size of a pineapple according to BabyCenter. We can't believe how fast she's growing! Below is a belly pic for this week and one of my handsome hubby taking me out on a date! I sure do love that boy! :)

Graduation Celebration + 32 Week Update

We had a great time this weekend spending time with family and friends who were in town for all the graduation festivities.  My parents, George's parents, Erik, Tyler and Liam came up from Lawton and we had a blast!  We kicked things off with the commencement ceremonies on Friday night.  It felt really good to walk across the stage and close this chapter in our lives.  Each day, I wake up thinking, "What homework do I have to work on today?"  It still hasn't quite sunk in that I'm done!  Below are a few pictures of the celebration.

Celebration with the In-Loves!
As you can probably tell, we had a great time celebrating.  Graduation was made even more memorable because of a special guest that graduated from my college.  When we went to line up before the processional, Garth Brooks was there!  He graduating with his MBA as well.  How cool!

On Saturday, we took the boys out to go fishing and ride in the canoe.  Papa (Dad) and George took them to Walmart to get bait and got a head start on the fishing.  By the time Mom and I got out there, Tyler and Liam had each caught one fish!  They were very excited and had a great time.  Uncle Georgie took them out on the canoe and they got to look at turtles and fish some more.  It was really neat to see them cast their own lines and reel in the fish they caught.  They are expert fishermen already!

We hope each of you had a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend.  George surprised me this morning with a beautiful card and a nice warm drink in bed.  We were sad that we weren't able to go to Lawton this weekend to spend time with our mothers today but were glad we got to see them on Friday/Saturday.  George and I are so thankful to have Godly mothers who love us and care for us everyday.  We appreciate all the love, support and guidance they have given us over the years and hope that we can be great parents like they are!

Baby Horton is doing really good and seems to be making extra room for herself by pressing out against my belly today.  She has been quite active and is stretching and moving all the time.  We have our check-up with Dr. Henry tomorrow afternoon and our second session of childbirth classes on Tuesday.  The weeks are flying by and we can't wait to meet our sweet baby girl.  I can really tell she's growing - we can't believe she will be here soon!  According to Babycenter, she weighs about 3.5 lbs and is over 16.5 inches long now.  This past week we read her a farm animals book and it was a lot of fun.  We will have her first baby shower on Wednesday for George's school.  We look forward to sharing the excitement with the teachers he works with.

We will update soon with info from our check-up.  Have a great week!

Free at last, free at last!!!

Well, I'm officially done! My MBA journey is complete and I can now say I will never do homework again! Or pay tuition! (my own atleast) I spent the first part of the week at home sick with a nasty head cold. I'm still getting over it but the worst part is over. I wrapped up my last assignment on Tuesday with Reese's help. It's nice to have a buddy with you when you're not feeling too well...

This week has definitely been a celebratory one. My coworkers took me out to lunch yesterday and gave me a lovely card and new business card holder.

Tomorrow the family arrives for graduation ceremony and we look forward to catching up with everyone! This week's photo will feature a picture of Baby H in a cap and gown- stay tuned!! :)

31 Weeks!

The weeks are flying by and we are getting closer and closer!  Baby Horton is 31 weeks old now and, according to BabyCenter, is around 3.5 lbs and 16 inches long.  That is roughly the size of four navel oranges.  She has been very active this week and George and I have been watching my belly just bounce around.  She is most active at night and seems to get excited when I wake up in the morning too.  Just in case you need some visual proof that she is getting bigger:::

31 weeks and counting!
I have still been feeling pretty good overall.  I've had a few more leg cramps and some swelling in my feet.  I can really tell that the extra baby weight is starting to impact my legs.  By the end of the day they are screaming at me to lay down and go to sleep! :)  George has been super helpful (as always) with this symptom and rubs my feet and calves for me all the time.  I am so thankful that I have such a loving husband.  He is so kind and never complains.  It is really fun to see him getting excited about the baby and I truly appreciate how much he takes care of me and Baby H.  We could not do this without him!

Speaking of George, and all his hard work, the house is almost DONE!  Does anyone else hear the hallelujah chorus, or is it just me?  We moved into our new closet this weekend and will soon be able to mark the bathroom as complete.  Below are a few photos to show you the finished product.  We still have to tie up a few loose ends like switchplates and vent covers, but other than that - done!
